First blocking done 🙂 - I decided to realize the first idea with Stuwie as a criminal and Tailor as the police trying to catch Stewie. This time I tried to make the animation more cartoony.

Assignment 204 was about finishing the assignment started in the first week and planing the next shot, which is about Stuwie (without arms) crossing a canyon trough some posts. Therefore we had to record a video reference again and plan everything on paper as always.

Unfortunately I'm not able to do a front flip, therefor the weird cuts in the video. For the flip reference I created an animated '.gif' using some of the 'Muybridge - The Human Figure in Motion' Photographs.

This week was about walk cycles. Therefore we had to block out a vanilla walk, to understand the principles of a walk.

The more interesting port of this assignment was the pose we had to create, the topic was strength. To my mind it's pretty hard to find a pose which communicates strength in a not cliché way. My aim was to create a pose which shows mental strength ... Stu will die but he tryes helping Tailer to survive.

This assignment was about ARCS & PATH OF ACTION. Therefore we get a new character named Tailor. This is a simple ball with a tail. Because loving a snappy animation style and being a big Scrat (the squirl like character from Ice Age) fan I used the first Ice Age trailer as a reference for my assignment. The aim was to give Tailer a similar animation style such as Scrat has. Hope you like it!

Ok, here it is ... In Germany Halloween is not a big thing, but while watching the Simpsons Halloween special I get the idea for the latest assignment, so I hope you enjoy it :devil_tb:

This assignment covers OVERLAPPING ACTION, again one of the 12 Principles of Animation.

This week the assignment covers Anticipation and Squash & Stretch. Therefore a bouncing ball had to go through an obstacle course on which we had to apply the basic function of anticipation by using Squash & Stretch. Anticipation is on of the keys to escaping the 'robotic' feel of poorly done computer animation and can give weight and physical believability to a character.

This assignment is about TIMING. Therefore I had to animate two balls (one heavy the other light) without using SQUASH & STRETCH.

Timing is the rate at which something gets from one point to another. It is one of the 12 Principles of Animation.

With the second Animation Mentor Assignment I finally start to animate... Yeah ;). The business of the scene was to create a bouncing basket-, football. I added a leg which kicks the ball to make the shot more interesting. Hope you like it 🙂

A sketchbook page and a pose of Stu had to be done as well:
