Last month I finished my job on ‘Hexe Lilli: Die Reise nach Mandolan’ a German feature produced at Trixter. Unfortunately I can’t show any of my work till it will be released. It was a fun working on the project. I learned a lot and made new friends who I would like to thank for the great time in Munich. ‘Hexe Lilli: Die Reise nach Mandolan’ is scedueld to hit the cinemas in January 2011.

The Gruffalo was voted runner up for the Audience Award at this year’s Palm Springs International Short Film Festival.

I still can’t believe it but ‘The Gruffalo’ has won the Award for best TV special at Annecy 2010. And Studio Soi’s second Short ‘Der Kleine und das Biest – The Little Boy and the Beast’ got the Cristal for best TV production … 2010 if definitely a good year for Soi.

Last Wednesday Jakob (one of the Gruffalo Directors) took me to the PRIX JEUNESSE ceremony which was a lot of fun especially because Studio Soi was quite successful. “The Little Boy and the Beast” was awarded in the category “Up to 6, Fiction”, “The “Gruffalo” won both the Prix Jeunesse in the category “7 – 11 Fiction” and the “Prix Jeunesse of the Children’s Jury”.

Last Sunday the Gruffalo won the first prize at the 17th Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) in the category ‘Tricks for Kids’. Congrats to everyone who worked on it.  Let’s hope for more

I just came back from a two and a half month trip. First two month in South America and ending in Austria snowboarding. During my journey the latest project I worked on got released as lead animator… THE GRUFFALO … and I have to say that I’m proud being part of the Gruffalo team. Alli, Max S., Max L., Jakob, Maciek, Thomas, Uwe & Ole, thanks for the great time in Berlin and of course all the other guys in Ludwigsburg. It was a pleasure working with you guys.

After animating effects for almost 12 hours a strange inner feeling to do another short animation test came over me on my way back home … why… I have no idea … It’s nothing fancy, I only spend 45 min so don’t expect to much … In the end I played around with Maya’s Hardware Render Buffer and I was surprised how well it works. It’s almost as fast as playblasting but looks way much better because of antialiasing plus you can have motion blur… For anyone who is interested … Maya >> Window >> Rendering Editors >> Hardware Render Buffer. Under the Render tap you’ll find Attributes, just play with them until you like the result.
